October 9, 2014 – Union, KY. Okeanos Technologies is honored to announce today that it has won the coveted $100,000 Gulfstream Navigator Prize at the 2014 Ocean Exchange sustainability conference held earlier this week in Savannah, GA.
The prize is awarded for the innovation representing the greatest transformational potential among those “…that accelerate sustainability, generate economic growth and increased productivity, while reducing the use of nature’s resources and waste.”
Representatives for ten of the world’s most innovate and profound solutions in materials, devices, processes and systems were selected as finalists to convene with Ocean Exchange delegates in Savannah for two days of presentations, meetings and round-table discussions. Okeanos presented its innovation to an audience of several hundred delegates on Tuesday, and then learned of its award at the concluding reception held Wednesday evening.
“Of course we are honored to receive the Navigator Prize, but after interacting with the Ocean Exchange delegates – some of the world’s most accomplished engineers, academicians, executives and technologists – it was apparent that the real award was the experience itself,” said Tony Frudakis, Ph.D., CEO and Co-Founder of Okeanos Technologies. “It was so inspiring to witness a congregation of talented and accomplished people donate their time, money and energy towards ends that are larger than themselves, and realized on timescales that exceed their time on this earth.”
