OKEANOS SELECTED FOR FAST COMPANY 2014 RANKING OF WORLD’S 10 MOST INNOVATIVE COMPANIES IN ENERGY

Union KY, February 12, 2014 – Okeanos Technologies announces today it has been selected by Fast Company Magazine as one of the world’s 10 most innovative companies in energy for 2014. The innovation-centric publication granted the award in its annual Most Innovative Companies issue available on newsstands beginning February 17.

The issue is Fast Company’s most significant, high-profile editorial effort of the year focused on leading businesses and enterprises that exemplify the best in business from across the economy and around the world.  The end result of months of culling the world’s most interesting technology firms is a package that dares to be different, emphasizing not just revenue growth and profit margins but also progressive, sustainable business models and an ethos of creativity.

The issue includes rankings of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in 10 critical areas. Additional Top 10 lists will be rolled out online and through social channels in the weeks to come.   In the overall rankings, Google earned the No. 1 spot following a year of “many innovations and milestones” including Google Glass, Robotics, and Chromecast, beating out Apple, Twitter and Amazon.   Coincidentally, Okeanos’ Series-A Venture Capital backer, Grupo Arcano, was founded by Google’s first external investor, Alberto Rajii Chang.  Bloomberg Philanthropies and Donorschoose.org also made the top 10, along with Tesla, GolieBlox, Dodge and GoPro. This year’s honorees also include Amazon, Airbnb, and Nike (last year’s Most Innovative Company), along with such rising newcomers as GoPro, GoldieBlox, FitBit.  Established major brands such as Dodge, Johnnie Walker, GE, and Michael Kors were represented, along with creative upstarts like Warby Parker and Box; and food-technology companies Beyond Meat and BrightFarms.  Internationally, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies package spans the globe celebrating such companies as China’s Xiaomi (No. 3), India’s ZipDial (No. 8), and Brazil’s Braskem (No.41).

“The culture of innovation across the globe is more robust than ever,” reports Fast Company editor Robert Safian, who identifies 12 lessons of innovation for 2014 within the issue. “To win in such a fast-changing environment requires a new kind of business agility.”

In addition to newsstands, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March 2014) is available online at www.fastcompany.com/MIC as well as in app form via iTunes.  The energy sector rankings can be viewed at: http://www.fastcompany.com/most-innovative-companies/2014/industry/energy.
